Trainer Experience

Reining is a precision Western discipline that demands exceptional body control, smooth maneuvers, and a willing partnership between horse and rider. Marcos combines international roots with proven success in the USA and Brazil to deliver consistent results. His journey began early; he's been riding since age 5, inspired by his father's partnership with Franco Bertolani back in 1998. Marcos started training under training Franco as a young rider and competed successfully as a Non-Pro in Brazil. From 2011-2015, he made annual Summer trips to the U.S. and eventually relocated permanently in 2015.

When you train with Marcos, each horse is worked 5 days per week, with the program adjusted to age and goals. His philosophy emphasizes:

• Softening & body control
• Keeping horses relaxed & confident under pressure
• Eliminating resistance for a willing, happy horse

Turnout, lunging, proper feeding, and overall care are a big part of the program to keep horses balanced and feeling their best. With young, non-started horses, his top priority is safety, focusing on giving the horse and rider enough tools so that if something unexpected happens, there’s a way to handle it without anyone getting hurt. As horses grow older, Marcos creates a horse that any trainer or non-pro can get on and feel safe riding—no resistance, no drama. He also does all the training himself, which results in consistency and a unique training style throughout every horse Marcos trains.
